Stay in safe housing

Somaya offers safe accommodation for abused adults and their children. We accept women, men and LGBTQI people from all over Sweden. Most placements occur through the Social Services and sometimes through the Swedish Migration Board.

The initial period during your stay in our safe housing is about cutting contact with the person/ people who have used violence and threats. You will receive practical and emotional support. If you want to file a police report we will help you get in touch with a lawyer for advice. We also support you in getting in contact with authorities, healthcare and schools.

In our accommodation, each person gets their own room that can be locked. Common areas, such as the kitchen, living room and bathroom, are shared. You are responsible for buying and cooking your own food.

As you stay in our safe housing, you can take part in various empowering activities and you get support in living an independent life.

For a life free from violence and oppression

Somaya Women's and Girls' Shelter is a non-profit association. We support women, men and LGBTQI people with a foreign background who are exposed to violence and/or live with honor-based oppression. We have over 25 years of experience and are multilingual. We have a supportline, safe housing and an activity center.
